Studying the Bible -- What is the Book of I Thessalonians About?

In his first letter to the church in Thessalonica, Paul commended them for their great example that became known throughout the region. He commended their obedience to the gospel and desired to see them soon. Paul was concerned that the persecutions that came upon the church by the jealous Jews would destroy them but Timothy, who was sent to them, told him of their steadfastness. Paul urged them not to become complacent, but to grow in Christ. He also warned them to be ready for the day of the Lord, which comes as a thief, and to be prepared for judgment. He closed the epistle with various exhortations to faithful service.
