Paul wrote his first letter to Timothy to warn him about false teachers and encourage him to stand firm on the word of God. Timothy was a young preacher who traveled with Paul on his last two preaching trips. Paul considered Timothy his son in the faith. Paul urged Timothy to teach men and women how to worship and behave in the church. He instructed Timothy on organizing the church with the elders and deacons. Finally, he gives Timothy instructions on how Christians should live in various relationships and be content with their lives.
