Studying the Bible -- What is the Book of II Corinthians About?
Paul wrote this book as a letter, or epistle, to the church in Corinth. As mentioned in the article on First Corinthians, Corinth was a wicked city and the church had many problems as members sought to cleanse themselves of their idolatrous background. Paul wrote the first letter to correct problems they were having and to answer some of their questions. In the second epistle, Paul commends them for changes they made and encourages them to continue to grow in the faith. He also defends his apostleship against those who have been critical of him. |
