Studying the Bible -- What is the Book of 3 John About?

John's third letter describes a troublesome situation in a church where the recipient, Gaius, attended. John condemned the actions of Diotrophes who loved to rule the church. Diotrophes cast good people out of the church and would not accept the apostle's words. Demetrius, also mentioned in the letter, was probably one of the faithful people cast out of the church. John warned that he would come soon and he would rebuke Diotrophes for his arrogant actions.
