Studying the Bible -- What is the Book of James About?

The book of James might be considered a commentary on the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. James expounds upon many of Jesus' subjects. He describes the strength one gains from overcoming temptation and trials, the importance of treating others with impartiality, and a proper view of worldly goods. James emphasizes the necessity of works with faith. Without works, James writes that faith is dead and unprofitable.
