Studying the Bible -- What is the Book of Romans About?
The apostle Paul wrote the book of Romans as a letter, or epistle, to the Christians in Rome. In this letter, he declares the righteousness of God who, through the sacrifice of Jesus, abolished the Old Law and united the Jews and Gentiles together in the church. He also defends the justice of God in allowing sinners to be declared righteous through the blood of Jesus. The first eleven chapters contain several sub-arguments that comprise his whole defense of the righteousness of God. Chapters twelve through sixteen are practical admonitions and instructions for Christian living. |
