Studying the Bible -- Why Can't I Find the "Sinner's Prayer" in my Bible?

Many tracts urge the reader who wants salvation to pray "The Sinner's Prayer" or something like it. The prayer often goes something like this:

"I do now by faith accept Jesus as my personal Savior. I ask you,
Lord Jesus, to come into my heart and cleanse my soul from sin."

If you have a Bible search program, you may search for "personal Savior" yet you will find nothing. No conversion in the book of Acts records anyone being told to pray "The Sinner's Prayer" or any variation. They were to pray for forgiveness, repent of their sins, and were to be baptized to remove their sins (see the article "What must I do to be saved?" )

If you want to be saved, don't you want to do what Jesus and the apostles commanded people to do? The "Sinner's Prayer" is from man, not God.
